It's time to set up your holiday streaming campaign

Are you ready to reach holiday shoppers on CTV? For many streamers, the season is already underway.

Last year, according to Roku internal data, holiday content searches on Roku saw an 86% increase during October. And in November, those searches rise an average of 39% weekly. This surging holiday spirit is mirrored by consumer activity, as about half of Roku streamers shopped Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in 2025.

Meeting those shoppers is easier than you might think. Begin with the seasonal outcome you hope to drive: awareness, online sales, leads, store visits, or another measurable goal. From there, define your audience, upload your creative, set the budget and campaign dates, and establish measurement before launching. You can even create a shoppable ad unit that lets streamers buy with a click of their remote.

Our holiday playbook offers a month-by-month guide to reaching shoppers during this all-important time of year.

The Big Read

Rising Prices Dominate the Final Days of the Midterm Campaign

Money worries topped voters' concerns in four of the six previous midterms this century, and the Iran war and tariffs are now driving up prices. Polls show pocketbook issues are top of mind again for many voters as a hard-fought campaign deciding control of Congress enters its final days.

Democrats are hammering President Trump over the Iran war and tariffs that raised prices, while Republicans insist the economy is stronger than before they took power. Worries about money feel deeper and more desperate this cycle, putting the cost of living at the center of the campaign's final weekend.

Judge Orders Administration to Stop Threatening Election Officials

A federal judge in California ordered the Trump administration to stop threatening election officials with criminal charges over how they process ballots, just days before the midterms. Judge Trina Thompson also barred demands that officials set aside ballots the administration alleges may come from noncitizens, after unions and civil rights groups sued.

Federal letters this month demanded that California officials set aside ballots from 20,000 registered voters, and armed Homeland Security officials later warned of criminal charges. Trump criticized the ruling Saturday, asking why they would reject fixing election fraud, while the order noted a similar demand went to Washington state.

Former Fort Bragg Contractor Charged With Leaking Classified Material

A former Fort Bragg contractor was arrested after allegedly sharing classified military information on social media and stealing night-vision gear from an Army special operations facility. James Thomas Ashbacher, 37, of Spring Lake, North Carolina, was arrested by the FBI on a federal indictment for unlawfully transmitting and keeping national defense information.

Prosecutors said his top-secret clearance gave him access to classified material, which he allegedly photographed and uploaded to a platform where others reshared it. Agents searching his home also found an award document containing classified information and a missing night-vision system belonging to an Army special operations unit.

Election Night, Hour by Hour: Where Control of Congress Gets Decided

What it is: Polls close Tuesday night, but the count could stretch for days or even weeks, and the Senate is likely to take far longer to settle than the House. Senate margins run tighter than House margins, seven states are especially competitive, and two states use ranked choice voting, a system that can slow the final tally further.

The detail: Georgia offers an early read, since its secretary of state says new laws now require counties to report results within an hour of polls closing there. Florida, meanwhile, is testing its newly redrawn congressional maps for the first time, and its competitive House races carry real weight in the fight for the chamber.

Why it matters: The House likely won't hinge on a single seat, but the Senate very well could, which puts enormous weight on a small cluster of Tuesday's close races. North Carolina's Republican-held seat, where former Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper faces former Republican National Committee chair Michael Whatley, is Democrats' likeliest pickup, polls and pundits say.

What to watch: Ohio opens the night's run of seven tight Senate contests, where Republican Sen. Jon Husted and former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown remain locked in a virtual dead heat. In Maine, Republican Sen. Susan Collins faces a tough fight against Democrat Troy Jackson, defending the only GOP Senate seat in a state Kamala Harris carried in 2024.
